Verify your email and sign in with a code
Last updated October 18, 2026
OakPaystubs uses six-digit email codes in two places: once when you create an account, to confirm the email address is yours, and any time you'd rather sign in without typing your password. Both work the same way and arrive in the same kind of email.
1. Verify your email after registering
When you create an account, we email a six-digit verification code to the address you registered with, and you're taken to the verification page. Enter the code there.
Verifying signs you in straight away and takes you to the pay stub builder, or back to whatever you were doing before you registered. Until your address is verified, you can't sign in to the account.
2. Request a new code if it doesn't arrive
Give the email a minute, then check your spam, junk, and promotions folders. If it still isn't there, choose Resend code. You can request another code once a minute. Each new code replaces the last, so only the most recent email will work. A verification code stays valid for 24 hours.
If you typed the wrong address when registering, the code went somewhere else. Register again with the correct address.
3. Sign in with a code instead of a password
On the sign-in page, choose Sign in with a code instead. Enter your email address and choose Email me a code, then type the six-digit code from the email and select Sign In. A sign-in code is valid for 10 minutes.
It's a quick way in on a shared or unfamiliar device where you'd rather not type a password, or when you can't remember it. Choose Sign in with your password to switch back, or Use a different email if you entered the wrong address.
Tip: A sign-in code is as good as your password while it's valid. Never share one — OakPaystubs support will never ask you for a code.
4. If a code is rejected
If you're told the code is invalid or has expired, it's one of four things:
- It's mistyped — check all six digits.
- It's out of date — sign-in codes last 10 minutes and verification codes 24 hours. Request a fresh one.
- A newer code was sent — only the latest code works, so use the most recent email.
- Too many wrong attempts — after five wrong tries a sign-in code stops working, and you can request up to five codes in any 15 minutes. Wait a few minutes, then request a new one.
Common questions
Why do I have to verify my email?
It confirms the address belongs to you, which matters because it's where your receipts, sign-in codes, and password reset links are sent. A mistyped address would otherwise lock you out of your own account.
I never asked for a code, but I got one
Someone may have typed your email address by mistake. Without access to your inbox they can't use the code, so you can ignore it. If it keeps happening, reset your password and check Account → Activity log for sign-ins you don't recognise.
Does signing in with a code change my password?
No. Your password stays the same and still works. The code is simply another way to sign in. To change your password, see Reset your password.
The page says a code was sent, but I don't have an account
For security, the message is the same whether or not an account exists for that address, so nobody can use the form to check who's registered. If you don't have an account, create one first.
Still stuck?
If you no longer have access to the email address on the account, contact support — we can't send codes anywhere else.
